Privacy Policy
The short version: there is no account, and we do not collect your name, email or any other personal data. Your progress and settings stay on your device. Ads are shown by Google, which may use some device data, and you can choose whether those ads are personalised.
Who we are
Tanglaway is a puzzle game made by Alyona Din (“we”). Questions about this policy: [email protected].
What stays on your device
The game saves your level progress, stars, best times, hints and undos left, your settings (language, sound, music, vibration) and some ready-made levels. They are kept in your browser’s or the app’s local storage and are not sent to us (unless you ask for a transfer code, see below). Uninstalling the app or clearing the site’s data deletes them; Settings → Reset progress clears your progress and keeps your settings.
Moving your progress to a new phone
Only if you tap Settings → Move progress to a new phone → Get a transfer code, the game sends a copy of your game progress (levels, stars, best times, coins, streak, boosters, hats; no purchases, no name, no email, no device ID) to our server on Cloudflare and shows you a code. The copy is deleted as soon as the code is entered on the other device, and at the latest after 24 hours. To stop people guessing codes, the server counts requests per IP address for one hour; it stores only a one-way hash of the IP address, never the address itself.
Ads
Tanglaway is free and shows ads: Google AdMob in the iOS and Android apps, and Google AdSense (H5 Games Ads) on the web. To show ads, measure them and prevent fraud, Google may collect data such as your device’s advertising ID, your IP address (and a rough location from it) and how you interact with ads. Google explains this in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Where the law requires it (for example in the EU, the UK, Switzerland and some US states) the game asks for your consent with Google’s consent form before ads are personalised. You can change your choice any time in Settings → Privacy options. If you do not agree, Google shows non-personalised ads. On iPhone and iPad the app asks for permission (App Tracking Transparency) before the advertising ID may be used; if you say no, it is not used.
Purchases (coming soon)
Removing ads and unlocking all levels will be offered as in-app purchases. They are paid through the Apple App Store or Google Play; we never see your card or payment details. To check what you bought on this and your other devices we will use RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous app user ID and your store receipts (see the RevenueCat privacy policy).
Daily puzzle ranking
When you finish the daily puzzle, the game sends your time and number of taps to our server (Cloudflare), together with a random ID that the game made up on your device. It is not your name, email or device identifier, and we store only a scrambled (hashed) form of it. We use this only to show how you did compared with other players that day (“faster than N% of players”). Results are deleted after about three days.
Visits to tanglaway.com
To count visits to the website we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It uses no cookies, does not follow you across other sites and does not identify you. It shows us totals such as page views, the country, browser and type of device.
Statistics
Apart from the daily ranking and the visit counts above, the game does not use any analytics. We plan to add anonymous usage statistics later (for example Google Firebase Analytics) to learn which levels are too hard. Before we do, we will update this policy and ask for consent where the law requires it.
Website hosting
The web version and this page are hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver pages and keep them secure. These pages use no cookies and no tracking.
Children
Tanglaway is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone. Our ad setup can show non-personalised ads only, and does so whenever consent is not given.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is usually nothing for us to show, correct or delete; your game data is on your device and under your control. For data that Google uses for ads, see My Ad Center. You are always welcome to write to us.
Changes
When the game changes (for example when purchases or statistics arrive) we update this page and the date at the top. For important changes we will also tell you in the game.
